Bull calf selling in the Supremacy Sale
Dec 9
IU is a bull that can contribute greatly to herds that use him and the breed as well. He can be bred to the whole herd - heifers and the best cows. He'll contribute vigor, short gestation, lower birth weight, calving ease shape, gainability, maternal strength (mothering, udder type, milk, etc), fertility, great yellow hair, docility, correctness, length, volume, balance, muscle, and pigmented, hooded eyes.
He has a pedigree that is unique enough in the first few generations to be an outcross for the majority of breeders, yet he descends from well known, widely used cattle throughout his extended pedigree.
He is linebred many different ways to some of the best cattle we've used. Going farther back, he is linebred to some real breed builders such as Commander, Extra, 27G, 93J, 85B, and 053 from 6 to 13 times in his pedigree! Breed legend, 8Z, is in his pedigreee at least 26 times! How's that for linebreeding, Latimers!!
His grandsire, 84J, has 7 different cows close in his pedigree that have each raised at least 2 purebred herdsires. In the rest of 1U's pedigree you will also find more cows that have done that such as 4S's dam, 24H (we've used 3 sons - also of note - her grand dam 4T is in 1U 3 times), Wabash Selina 144Z (we used 4 sons, 2 of which are in the pedigree) and now 18N joins those ranks as her 84J son went to work last year for purebred breeder Keith Davies.
Our first crop from 84J really impressed with their calving ease shape & size, growth, muscling, hair, fertility, pigment, and hooded eyes. 1U's sire, 4S, really stuck out at 11- 14 months of age so much with his fantastic muscle, gaining, hair and nuts that we just had to use him. His calves started coming a week before they were expected and definately proved his consistency for shape and size at birth. They then grew and developed like popcorn, and we are so pleased with them this fall. Weight and muscle with moderate frames. MJT Cattle Co., Edgerton purchased him at Calgary Bull Sale. Mick really liked him at 3 previous outings and I am convinced that the results in their herd will be outstanding.
We are retaining an interest in 1U. We will sell half interest, with the buyer getting to use him their whole season. We will use him starting in our Fall '09 season and then either before or after the buyers spring '10 season, as we have a long spring breeding season. We are willing to do the travelling to move him.
