Over the years we have focused on maternal traits:  good udders and feet, fertility, calving ease, and mothering ability.  When buying bulls, we've been very particular about their mothers and we've used many bulls from our own best cows.  People who tour our herd complement us on the quality of our cows.

Our females of all ages are fed grass and grass hay only.  The bulls are fed a light grain ration and are always given lots of acres to roam.  Weaning weights have always been taken with only grass and milk in the calves - we need to know what they can really do.

We have always dehorned some of our bulls.  Some buyers want to have the horned genetics, but enjoy the easier handling of a dehorned bull (easier on fences and to get up the chute).

Genetic Diversity - Our herd is filled with a variety of genetics.  We, therefore, can provide a buyer with bulls repeatedly and they can be comfortable that their herd is able to be bred to the new bull each time. Most of our pedigrees are unique enough to be considered an outcross to other Herefords.
